Auto accidents may happen due to failure to stop at a red light

A teenage girl has sadly lost her life in a motor vehicle collision in Arizona. Now, her family members are left to grapple with how her life could have been snatched away so soon in the two-car crash. These types of auto accidents can easily happen as a result of a driver's negligence -- such as blowing through a red light -- which is grounds for litigation.

The recent Arizona accident took place at a little past 8 p.m. on a Friday. According to authorities, a car was going west along a street and suddenly crashed into another automobile. The second car reportedly failed to come to a halt at a red traffic light while going north along another street.

Police said that a boy, 17, was driving the second car and had a 16-year-old passenger in the car with him. Both of these individuals suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to a medical center, where their conditions were deemed serious. Unfortunately, the passenger passed away at the hospital. Meanwhile, the first car's driver, 43, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Authorities said that the accident did not seem to have resulted from driver impairment.

The surviving loved ones of the passenger who died in the Arizona crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the car's driver, seeking damages. They must establish liability in civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, before the court will decide their claims for monetary damages. The monetary compensation awarded in a successfully litigated suit may help to address hospital bills, funeral expenses and other losses tied to these types of auto accidents.
