As families rush around to complete their everyday errands and activities, little time is usually spent contemplating the possibility of a tragic event. Unfortunately, auto accidents can happen at any time of day and can cause families to suffer irreparable harm. A recent car crash in Arizona sent several children and adults to medical centers for treatment of serious injuries.
Police were called to the scene of a vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a pickup truck. According to the preliminary report, a truck carrying an adult and a child between the ages of 5 and 6 years old was in the process of completing a left-hand turn at an intersection. Another vehicle approaching from the northwest slammed into the truck before it could complete its turn.
The car was carrying four children ranging in age from a few weeks old to 8 years old. There were also two adults in the vehicle. All of the victims were transported to nearby medical centers for treatment. Initially, it was reported that some of the victims had suffered life-threatening injuries. Their conditions were later upgraded to stable, though the nature of the injuries and future prognoses were not released.
Arizona officials are still working on completing their investigation into this serious crash. Along with determining which motorist may have been at fault, police will also investigate as to whether the children were all properly secured in required safety restraints. It is unclear what, if any, charges may be filed in the future. Anytime auto accidents lead to serious bodily injury or significant property damages, injured parties may have a basis for pursuing compensation for their losses. Though no amount of recovered damages can repair all of the harm that may have been inflicted through the negligence of another party, a successful lawsuit may ease the financial burdens these crashes often create.
